Administration:

The Head of department and the deputy work closely with an adequate, well trained and dedicated team of trainers to ensure that trainees are adequately prepared to sufficiently contribute in finding sustainable solutions to the most pressing social issues in the society today (See the photo below).

Career progression:

Trainees wishing to proceed from Craft Certificate (TEP) to Diploma level (modular) of the same specialization/course can get KNEC Credit Transfer through the college and be exempted from joining at Module 1.

Attachment:

To enhance training and production qualified graduates, trainees are assisted by the department in securing attachment places so that they can gain relevant experiences in their areas of specialization.
To foster growth and development of the department, plans are underway to introduce the following courses to targeting specialized interests within the region:-
• Guidance and Counseling for teachers,
• Child Protection (CDACC)
• Community Health (CDACC)
Potential trainees are encouraged to join the department and train with experts in the areas listed above.

Areas of training:

Competency areas in the department include Social Work Option, Community Development Option, Communication Skills and Entrepreneurship Education. Potential trainees seeking admission for any of the above courses should have a minimum KCSE mean grade of D plain for Craft Certificate level and a C- for the diploma level. Sometimes, trainees engage in co-curricular activities such as community clean-ups, visiting children homes and rehabilitation centers as well as participating in environment conservation activities such as tree planting.
